<p>An anode for a diaphragm- less electrolytic cell suitable for the preparation of chlorates of alkali and alkaline earth metals, which anode comprises an electrically conducting cylindrical rod (1) which is resistant to corrosion by the electrolyte, two electrically-conducting support means (4, 4') which are resistant to corrosion by the electrolyte and are substantially U-shaped, the webs (10) of each of said support means being welded to the said rod along two diametrally opposed generatrices, two substantially parallel anode plates (2, 2') welded to respective flanges (9, 9') of the said support means, the free ends of the anode plates being connected together by electrically conducting connecting elements (3, 3') which are resistant to corrosion by the electrolyte and which keep the plates substantially parallel whilst providing a semi-rigid connection, one of the ends of the rod being closed by a plug (5) made of material which is resistant to corrosion by the electrolyte, the other end of the said rod including a flattened section (6) for receiving an electrical connection (7) and a separate shoulder (8) having a groove in which there is housed a toroidal seal which is resistant to corrosion by the electrolyte which seal ensures that a leakproof seal is obtained when the cylindrical rod is assembled through the wall of an electrolytic cell. <IMAGE></p> |
