Process for preparing ferruginous mineral water, esp.for bottling, by stabilising non-flocculated, fresh ferruginous water, having the iron in the ferrous state by addn. of reducing agent, which is pref. ascorbic acid, sodium or magnesium ascorbate or an ascorbyl ester. Pref. the ascorbic acid is added quantities 2.5-6.5, esp.5-6, times the wt. of the ferrous ions. Quantity of ferrous ions is generally 15-20 mg/l and quantity of ascorbic acid 50-100 mg/l. Mineral water contg. stabilised ferrous iron suitable for therapeutic use in anaemia treatment for children and adults. Water is drunk in quantities of 250-500 cc per day and avoids anaemia, weakness, toxicity problems etc. Water may be administered in other forms e.g. in baby foods, by i.v. injection etc.
