PURPOSE:To make stable variable-speed reproduction possible by varying the write or read speed of a video memory in accordance with the run speed of a tape. CONSTITUTION:In fixed-head VTR, a video signal is expanded or compressed on the time axis in reproduction other than the standard mode in accordance with a reproduction speed, and video signal writing circuit 18 consisting of a sample holding circuit and A/D converter operates by receiving information on the speed of a capstan to sample a video signal from reproducing circuit 17 at fixed intervals, thereby writing it in video memory 19. Namely, the video signal expanded or compressed on the time axis is sampled according to the expansion or compression to obtain a video signal at fixed sampling points which is equally divided in a vertical synchronizing period. Therefore, a standard video signal can easily be obtained from a video signal with the speed variable. |
