The central heating system for a house uses a heat pump which extracts heat from warmed air which is circulated through the cavity (5) between the inner layer (2) and outer layer (1) of a double walled construction for the outside walls. Heated air is discharged into the bottom of the cavity and is then collected at the highest point (7) under the sloping roof and extracted by a central vertical duct (8) for discharge at the bottom. At the lower collection point is a connection (9) for the input of a circulating pump (12) followed by an evaporator (15). The condenser (18) of the heat pump is used as a heat exchanger for water circulated through distributors (22) for the rooms above, or for a hot water supply. The wall cavities are also lined with an insulating layer each side. A further cavity (6) under the roof communicates with the central collector duct.
|
