<p>Above the compression springs on the top of hooks supporting the upper ends of the sacks in a filtering plant for the removal of dust, particles of tar, etc. from a stream of hot gas, pivoting details are positioned. These are connected to each other in rows by coupling beams aligned at right angles to the hook shafts. A number of coupling beams are linked together inside the filtration chamber by a plate to which a draw rod is attached. This passes through an airtight seal in the housing wall to a handgrip by which the sacks can be shaken to and fro. The bottom ends of the sacks are secured to hollow pipes projecting through the bottom of the compartment, in which means are provided for the periodic blowing of air to dislodge and flush out particles of dust, etc. into a loading hopper below. Used for the removal of dust and solid matter generally from the air rising from the flow channels when the molten iron is run from a blast furnace. The design makes it possible to shake roughly ten times as many filter bags as with existing layouts. There are fewer beams and electric motors also, so that costs of installation are reduced.</p> |
