The ice-making appliance comprises a base frame (1) which is designed for fitting in prefabricated form in a bar (21) and in which is guided a chest (8) having a bottom-side sectioned frame (14) for frontal insertion. The sectioned frame (14) at the same time guides a base plate (15) so that this can be frontally inserted into a machine compartment (11). The base plate (15) supports the refrigeration unit (12) with a baffle (16) which subdivides the machine compartment (11) on its front side into an inflow duct (25) and an outflow duct (26) for the cooling air. In this arrangement, frontal insertion of both the chest (8) and of the refrigeration unit (12) helps to make the appliance easy to service. Furthermore, owing to the front-side inlet and outlet of the cooling air, additional cooling air exhaust means can be dispensed with. <IMAGE>
