In withdrawing heat from liq. compost in containers, trenches, and/or stables, the compost is aerated by atmospheric air or oxygen and the heat generated in the compost by the resulting biological oxidn. process is withdrawn by way of energy collection leads, grids or plates in the walls of the container or stables or in the space above the compost, to feed a heat pump. The process is esp. useful in an integrated system of stalls for animals which create the liq. compost. On aeration, this can be used to create heat for warming the stalls. By using reversible heat pumps., heat may if necessary be extracted from stalls and passed to the liq. compost supply, where it serves to activate the oxidn. organisms. The oxidised compost has low odour and is environmentally harmless, and can be used directly for spreading on the fields, whilst the heat produced provides a reduction in energy costs for the compost treatment and in stall heating.
|
