Hydrocarbonaceous feed stock (I) is catalytically reformed in two reactor systems, each reactor contg. discrete catalytic composites of different activity and stability properties, by (a) reacting (I) with H2 in contact with a composite (comprising a gp. VIII metal, a catalytic metal modifier and a halogen), the catalyst composite moving via gravity flow, (b) reacting the effluent stream from (a) in the second reactor with a catalyst of similar compsn. but of different activity and stability, (c) periodically withdrawing deactivated catalyst from reactors (a) and (b) and regenerating them in separate towers (through which they move by gravity flow) by contact with air halogen and steam and (d) feeding the dried regenerated catalyst composites back to their respective reactors. Used for the catalytic reforming of naphtha boiling range fractions, the principal reactions being endothermic and effected in the vapour phase. The operating efficiency of the process is increased while simultaneously increasing the effective use of the catalytic composite used.
|
