<p>An adhesive plaster consists of a rectangular strap, with the two outer ends adhesive and the middle part lined with muslin. An electrical heating wire is embedded in zigzag fashion in the muslin and its ends are exposed bare in a small flap pocket above the middle part. If a small button battery is inserted in this pocket, the wire is heated and warms the skin around the spot of application. This is a safer way than using heat generating ointments which may have undesirable side effects.</p> |
