Counter gas counting tube - with specified dimensions for short range radiation detection

A counter tube which is continuously traversed by counter gas, specially for the measurement of ionizing radiation with a very short range, emanating from surfaces, has an inside counter space of not over 10 mm height. The access window is at least 10 mm wide and 100 mm long and the inside counter space, in which several parallel counter wires are stretched between insulators, is at least 5 mm wider at each side than the window. This counter tube has a much greater sensitivity of response to radiation of very short range. Excessive mixing of counter gas and ambient air has been eliminated.
