The multi-focal spectacle lens, which may be in glass or other material, comprises an area (6) for distant vision and an area (7) for near vision. The latter area is arranged in the upper part of the lens. The areas (6,7) may be separated by a parting line extending approximately horizontally across the widest portion of the lens, or by a curved parting line to which the horizontal diametric line is a tangent. The lenses may be contained in a spectacle frame (2) which permits vertical adjustment adjustment (11-13,17) of the lens relative to the eyes of the wearer.
