Concentration measurement by total reflection spectroscopy - with highly refractive intermediate film

In a method for measuring the concentration, specially of biological substances, by means of attenuated total reflection, a transparent material with a high refractive index is used as an intermediate layer between reflecting element and sample in order to generate an optically clean and reproducible surface. This creates a clean surface for simply reproducible measurements with a high sensitivity in infrared, visible and ultraviolet light.
