The core stampings of uniform thickness for a magnetic core construction, for transformers or coils, are produced in a variety of shapes each having the common features of symmetrical parallelogram sections, with some portions bending into oblique sections, so that they fit together to make contiguous chevron patterns and thus may be built up into various sizes. In one assembled design, the core (1) is in the form of a column held together by two similar yokes (2) which press inwards on the column to leave a small air gap (3) at each end on either side. Some stampings have overlapping trapezoidal sections with pointed tips held together by yokes which touch at the tips. Each design enables the stampings to be tacked together by a straight weld seam.
