A domestic tumble-drier has a water-cooled condenser comprising a series of flat, hollow plates through which a stream of fresh cold water is maintained, the outflow being connected by automatically-controlled valves to a used-warm-water system for recovery of the heat. The plates may be connected in parallel, or in series such that the first plate cooled by the fresh water is the last one encountered by the exhaust air from the drier. The system is economical in its use of energy and of water, which remains potable and suitable for re-use.
|
