PURPOSE:To fix wick in a heat pipe in a reliable and efficient manner, by inserting a resilient tube having a tubular wick on its outer surface into a metal pipe, and thereafter expanding the resilient tube forcibly. CONSTITUTION:Resilient tube 1 made of rubber or the like is inserted into wick 3 made of fine copper wire knitted into a tubular form. Outer diameter of the resilient tube 1 is smaller than inner diameter of wick 3, and metal rings 2 having the same outer diameter as resilient tube 1 is fitted on the outside of tube 1 with proper spacing from each other. Therefore, resilient tube 1 can be inserted into wick 3 without causing deformation of the same. After the tube 1 is inserted into pipe 4 and rigid spherical member 5 having a diameter smaller than inner diameter of pipe 4 is forced into the resilient tube 1, liquid 6 is charged under pressure into tube 1. Resultantly, spherical member 5 is urged forward in tube 1 by the pressure of liquid 6 while expanding the inner diameter of tube 1, so that wick 3 is brought into close contact with the inner wall surface of pipe 4 and fixed tightly in place by rings 2. |
