Room heating using exhaust heat from eddy current brake - directing air against surfaces of driven brake disc for flywheel, large motor, generator etc.

The heating system is used with an eddy current brake which is continuously driven on one hand and continuously braked on the other. The eddy-current brake comprises a braking disc (1) the outer part of which is associated with at least one pair of facing magnets (6,7), the disc (1) mounted centrally on the drive shaft (3) of an electric motor (4). The air to be heated is fed through the electric motor (4) onto one face of the brake disc (1) and it is direct onto the opposite face of the disc (1) at the centre, both faces of the disc having angled fins directing the air outwards towards the disc periphery. A conical guide plate (11) for the air stream may be fitted between the motor (4) and the initial face of the disc (1).
