PURPOSE:To increase production of a dicarboxylic acid with the propagation of various germs prevented, by cultivating a dicarboxylic acid-producing fungus in its early stage in a specific pH range, followed by cultivating it in the subsequent stage in a pH range larger than that of the early stage. CONSTITUTION:In the cultivation of a dicarboxylic acid-producing fungus belonging to Candida tropicalis in a liquid medium comprising a straight-chain hydrocarbon as a substrate, the early stage cultivation is carried out in 3.0-5.0pH range and the subsequent cultivation is done in 6.5-7.5pH range to produce and to accumulate a dicarboxylic acid. A 11-18C straight-chain hydrocarbon can be used preferably as the hydrocarbon. The early stage cultivation is carried out in the medium containing most of the total substrate to be used and the rest is left. The remaining substrate is blended with an alkali to give a solution, which can be used to keep pH in 6.5-7.5 in the subsequent cultivation. |
