Biomass for animal fodder - produced by partially drying biological sludge from animal manure processing and neutralising with acid

In the treatment of biological sludge from manure processing plants in industrial animal production, in which the biological sludge obtd. from a microbiological process run without additives is substantially dehydrated, the biological sludge, dried to a dry substance content of 5-10%, is adjusted from its alkaline pH to a pH 5-7 before direct feeding to animals or before drying. The biomass obtd. is suitable for use as animal fodder. The microbiological process is carried out with pH-modifying additives, neutralisation or acidification only being carried out at a later stage. This reduces the amt. of acid required, thus improving the economics of the process.
