O.Z. 32,066 An improved process for hydrogenating alkanals of 3 to 5 carbon atoms, to give the corresponding alkanols, at from 130 to 190.degree.C and from 30 to 300 bars hydrogen pressure, in the liquid phase in the presence of water, using nickel-containing supported catalysts, in which the active mass of the catalyst contains from 40 to 80% by weight of nickel, from 10 to 50% by weight of copper and from 2 to 10% by weight of manganese. |
