A process is described for the manuf. of citric acid by fermn. of n-paraffin of carbon source with candida lipolitica IFO 1407 thiamine-auxotroph. Thus, C. lipolitica IFO 1407 was grown in a medium contg. n-paraffin 39g/l, (NH4)SO4 3g/l, KH2PO4 0.5g/l, MgSO47H2O 0.5g/l, NaCl 0.1g/l, yeast extract 0.5g/l, thiame-CHl 50 g/l and FeSO47H2O 1mg/l for 4days with with shaking. The culture soln. was put in 10 fermentor, fermented. Nitrogen-source concn. of medium by exponential, linear or exponential-linear feeding was controlled 0.2-1.3g/l. One liter of the culture broth provided 109.9 g citric acid.
