Plate heat exchanger comprising a horizontal cylindrical housing 1 with an inlet 2 and an outlet 3 for a first of two media, and an inlet 4 and an outlet 5 for the second medium, said housing 1 being open at one end, a plurality of heat exchanging units 6 which each comprise a pair of opposing frames 8 and a package of plate elements 9 which are clamped between them, said units 6 being introduced consecutively into the housing 1, besides which a clamping gable 7 is placed at the open end of the housing 1 and clamps the heat exchange units 6 together. The plate elements 9 are clamped surface against surface via surrounding sealing strips 12a, 12b in order to form interspaces between the plates through which the media are flowing. Every other interspace B is closed relative to the space in the housing 1 and is connected to the inlet 2 and outlet 3 for the first medium. The remaining interspaces A are open relative to the space in the housing by partial cut-outs in the sealing strips 12a, 12b, and are connected to the inlet 4 and the outlet 5 for the second medium. The first medium may be constituted by a liquid and the second medium by a gas or vice versa, which is determined by the flow conditions between the two heat exchanging media. <IMAGE> |
