1. Process for the removal of nitrosation agent(s) from nitrated aromatic compounds with a solidification temperature between about 10 and 1208C, characterized in cooling or allowing to cool the nitration mixture - having a temperature above the solidification temperature of the respective nitrated aromatic compound or having been heated to such a temperature - subsequent to the nitration to a temperature below this solidification temperature, separating the crystallized nitrated aromatic compound and neutral washing same in usual manner.
