1507695 Heat transfers DENNISON MFG CO Ltd 3 June 1975 [3 June 1974] 23945/75 Heading B6C A heat transfer comprises a carrier sheet, a release layer 22 and a transfer layer 23 comprising the image, the transfer layer and the release layer being coteminous and having an outline differing from that of the sheet, the release layer being softenable by heat to release the transfer layer and itself from the carrier sheet. Thus, only material in the image area is transferred to the substrate printed. The layer 22 may extend slightly outside the area of layer 23, as shown, or vice versa (Fig. 3, not shown). The release layer may be a polyamide, polystyrene, rosin derivative, phenol-formaldehyde resin, terpene resin or heptane resin. The transfer layer may be isobutylmethacrylate. The release and transfer layers may be applied to the carrier sheet by printing. |
