1519639 Coating for mineral fibre panels GRUNZWEIG & HARTMANN UND GLASFASER AG 28 Oct 1975 [25 Nov 1974] 44311/75 Heading B2E A heat-insulating mineral fibre panel e.g. for roofing purposes is coated with a composition comprising by weight: 60-85% of water-glass, 4-16% of one or more mineral silicates of sheet-like structure (e.g. talc, or a clay mineral such as kaolin), 1-5% of at least one oxide or carbonate of an alkaline earth metal or zinc, and/or an oxide or hydroxide of aluminium and/or barium sulphate, and optionally 1-5% of pigment, in water to 100%, at a thickness of 500- 800 gms/sq.m., and the coating is then dried. The water-glass may be a Sodium or potassium water-glass of 28-43% solids content. Suitable pigments are Fe 2 O 3 , FeOOH, TiO 2 and Cr 2 O 3 . The coating may be applied by brushing or spraying, and may be subsequently coated with bitumen. |
