<p>PURPOSE:To form a liq. crystal display element of high quality by forming an orienting film made of specified copolymer on an electrode substrate to provide superior liq. crystal orienting properties and superior light transmittance independently of a sealing method used. CONSTITUTION:An orienting film is made of polyimide-isoindoloquinazolinedione- siloxane copolymer contg. structural units represented by formula I or II (where Ar1 is a tetracarboxylic acid residue, Ar2 is a divalent org. group, Q is -O- or a group of formula III and R is aklyl or aryl). The copolymer is synthesized by reacting tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, diaminomonocarboxylic acid amide and a diaminosiloxane compound in an org. solvent.</p> |
