The post consists of a work table (4) enclosed at the rear with a full height screen (1) and at the top with a hood formed between the rear screen and a front screen (2). Above the hood is a fan chamber (5) with an air filter (6) across the bottom. The air flow is divided into two streams, with different velocities by an intermediate division plate (3) which is installed such that it is in line with the front edge of the work table. The air stream (V1) emanating between the front and intermediate screens serves as a curtain between the operator and the work and exhausts through a floor-level vent (8). The main air stream (V2) entrains any fumes and exhausts partly through the table-level vent (7) and partly through the floor level vent.
