The stolen vehicle recovery system includes the use of high frequency transmitters in every protected vehicle. Each vehicle has a transmitter operating intermittently to send a signal representing, in coded form, the registration number of the vehicle. A series of receivers are positioned at intervals so that the transmitted signals may be detected. By a process of triangulation the position of a particular transmitting vehicle may be identified. In case of theft the legitimate owner informs a control centre which monitors received signals. The registration number of the stolen vehicle is entered via a keyboard and from then on the transmissions from that vehicle are monitored. When an accurate triangulation has been carried out, police authorities may be informed to enable them to intercept the vehicle.
|
