Machine for harvesting cress - has soft foam covered belts to grip stems for cutting by reciprocating blades and conveying to operators at rear for packaging

The machine comprises a wheeled chassis which straddles each row of cress. Within this chassis are several belts, passing longitudinally front to rear. A pair of belts operate together, the cress being gripped between soft foam covered surfaces. A strip of cress is left between each pair of belts, for regeneration, and guide plates, fingers and brushes form these uncut strips and also flatten young cress to prevent it being cut by the reciprocating cutter blades. The cut cress passes upwards onto chutes for packaging by operators seated at the rear.
