The freezer storage system includes a series of rectangular boxes (2) stacked in a regular pattern within the freezer casing (3). The space between the boxes (4) is reduced to a min. reducing the flow of air between the boxes to the lowest level compatible with efficient operation. The boxes are of a suitable size to be sub-multiples of the internal measurements of the freezer casing. The boxes are provided with handles on their upper surfaces and on their end surfaces. They are made of cardboard and may be coated with plastic insulating material. Each has a label on one side to enable the contents to be identified. By filling the freezer space as fully as possible the refrigerating equipment is able to run most efficiently since there is little exchange of air with the surroundings when the freezer is opened.
