<p>The workpiece, e.g. a slab, rests on a roller track or table below a vertically adjustable deseaming or cutting burner which can move at least in the longitudinal direction (L) of travel of the slab, or at 90 deg. w.r.t. direction (L), i.e. transversely. A fume extn. duct moves together with the burner, and has an inlet near the burner nozzle. In one pref. machine, both the burner and the fume extn. duct are mounted on a single telescopic arm driven both in the transverse direction across the slab and vertically by electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic drives. Fumes, gas or smoke created by the burner are immediately and efficiently removed.</p> |
