PURPOSE:To bend work rolls and make bending easy by lowering and fixing a support beam bridged to a rolling mill housing and provided with a liquid well to the work roll surface and introducing high-pressure liquid therein. CONSTITUTION:A support beam 6 bridged between the driving side and the operating side of a housing 4 is lowered onto an upper work roll 2 by an elevator 8 and a screw-down device 5. At this time, the support beam 6 has a liquid well 9 across the width direction in the central region of the roll cylinder along the line of intersection of the plane inclusive of each axial center of the work rolls and the roll cylinder and it is fixed when lowered to the suitable position of the work roll 2. Next, liquid is introduced into the liquid well 9 through an inflow port 10 under a high pressure from a pressure source and the perpendicular force based on this liquid pressure is applied directly as bending force to the upper work roll 2. It is equally well to apply bending to the lower work roll or both upper and lower work rolls, without limiting to the upper work roll. |
