PURPOSE:To prepare purine arabinosides, in high yield, by reacting purines with uracil arabinoside in an aqueous medium in the presence of phosphoric acid ions or arsenic acid ions, under the cooperative action of uridine phosphorylase and purine nucleoside phosphorylase. CONSTITUTION:Purines which may have one or more substitution groups at 2-, 6-, and/or 8-positions are made to react with uracil arabinoside in an aqueous medium in the presence of phosphoric acid ions or arsenic acid ions, under the cooperative action of uridine phosphorylase and purine nucleoside phosphorylase, at 70-5 deg.C and pH5.5-9.0, pref. 6-7.5 until the production of purine arabinosides stops. The purine arabinoside produced and accumulated in the solution is separated, e.g. by the use of an ion exchange resin. The purine is, e.g. adenine, and the purine arabinoside derived therefrom is, e.g. adenine arabinoside. |
