<p>A casting element for use in a coal gasification device comprises a high thermal conductivity metal casting. composed of a metallic pipe having a section for circulating a liquid cooling agent, an upper throat over which the coal slag supplied from the gasification device flows and a central orifice for removing the slag. The surface of the upper throad is angled inwardly and towards the base and is connected to the orifice. The pipe for the cooling agent undergoes no deformation during the casting of any surrounding metal, is enclosed by the casting, forms a conduit for cooling agent near the surface of the throat of the orifice and is spaced from these surfaces by 6.35-38/mm. The pipe ends project beyond the exterior of the casting so as to provide an inlet and outlet for the cooling agent. The element is less subject to chemical attack, to erosion and corrosion than prior elements.</p> |
