The arrangement is intended for loading piece goods in layers onto and unloading them from, pallets. It comprises vertical columns (1,2) and a horizontal carrier beam (7,8) which is vertically movable relative to these columns and carries a load supporting frame (9). The frame (9) is horizontally movable along the beam between a goods collecting station (6) and a palleting or un-palleting station (4). The rectangular frame (9) has three-point supports at all times formed two fixing points moving along the beam on one side, and on the opposite side a single slide bearing support (10) vertically movable along the column (2) between the two stations.
