The switchgear housing has recesses (13), in which can be inserted a fastening strap (15) with an opening (17) for retaining a fastener (24), the strap serving for securing of the housing on a support member (21). Pref. each recess has a T-shaped or dovetail-shaped cross section, being typically arranged in the region of an aperture (12) along the side wall (11) of the housing, and possibly also through its bottom (22). If at least two recesses for the fastening strap are provided, they are located on the opposite housing side. Alternately the recesses may be arranged on three sides. The number of recesses may exceed the number of fastening straps. The fastening strap may be also of T-shaped or dovetail-shaped longitudinal section. Part of the strap may have a long section of rectangular shape whose free end has the opening for the fastener with rounded edges.
