<p>This invention relates to a standalone machining center which can perform cutting, electric discharge machining, electrochemical grinding and the like. The machining center comprises means for moving a work table (1) on a machine bed (2) in the direction of X- and Y-axes, a machining unit (9) including a spindle (10) having a chuck (14) to the tip of which various tools and discharge electrode can be fitted, a motor (15) for rotating the spindle and a brake (12) for fixing, means for moving the machining unit (9) in the direction of a Z-axis, automatic tool change means (18) for keeping the various tools and the discharge electrode and selectively supplying them to the chuck, and a machining power source (22) connected to a discharge electrode (26) or a grind stone fitted to the chuck (14) and to a work (4) in said liquid tank or a nozzle for a coolant and applying a D.C. current to them.</p> |
