PURPOSE:To prevent an engine from being damaged, by setting the timing of intake or exhaust to such a timing that a maximum output power is obtained, and by gradually shifting the timing of intake or exhaust from the timing of obtaining the maximum output power if a high load to the engine exceeding a predetermined value is detected. CONSTITUTION:A flat plate 11 for changing the timing of exhaust is attached to an exhaust port 8 of a two-cycle engine 1, and is adapted to be controlled by a control circuit 26 so as to be set by a pulse motor 20 to a desired exhaust angle at which a maximum output power is obtained. Further, if a vibration sensor 27 for detecting knocking, detects knocking, it is judged that a load exceeding a predetermined value is exerted to the engine, and accordingly, the timing of exhaust is successively retarded by a predetermined value. |
