To assist in energy conservation in the home, a sanitary appliance such as a shower unit or a bath with shower attachment has a heat exchanger 6 disposed therein or in its waste outlet. In use the heat exchanger, which is connected to a cold water supply 7, is contacted by warm/hot water used in the appliance. The cold water supply is warmed in the heat exchanger by heat exchange from the used water to produce warmed water for delivery, after further temperature increase e.g. in an instant water heater 12, as water to be used in the appliance. <IMAGE> |
