PURPOSE:To obtain titled catalyst component, capable of giving a polymer of a particle size rich in suitable uniformity, by the addition of an organoAl compound, TiCl4 and an organic ether compound, under specified conditions, in the presence of an olefin, by use of a specified solvent mixture. CONSTITUTION:An organoAl compound, TiCl4 and an organic ether compound are added into a solvent mixture, composed of a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon and/or an alicyclic hydrocarbon, and of 20-70vol%, based on the solvent mixture, of a halogenated aromatic hydrocarbon, at a temperature not higher than 55 deg.C, in the presence of an olefin. Then the solvent is heated to 45-150 deg.C for 10min- 24hr, with addition of additional organic ether compound and/or TiCl4. Thereby an alpha-olefin is homopolymerized or copolymerized in the presence of a catalyst system composed of the TiCl3 catalyst component and the organoAl compound, deposited in an average particle size of 10-500mu.
