PURPOSE:To prepare titled toner, capable of easy thermal fixing and free from offset phenomenon, by producing a copolymer having a wide range of MW distribution, by the cast polymerization of a syrupy liquid composed of a vinyl monomer, in which a vinyl polymer is dissolved. CONSTITUTION:A syrupy liquid, composed of 5-50wt% of a vinyl polymer (I) of number-average MW >=10,000 and 95-50wt% of a vinyl monomer (a), in which polymer I is soluble, is poured into a mold, and polymerized, with addition of about 1-8wt%, based on monomer (a), of a radical initiator, at about 40-95 deg.C, for 2-8hr. A vinyl copolymer (II), in which number-average MW is not larger than that of said polymer (I) (preferably <=6,000), and ratio of weight-average MW to number-average MW is at least 4 (preferably at least 5), is produced, by separating the residual monomer from the resulting polymer. The copolymer (II) is used as titled resin. |
