PURPOSE:An excellent uniform cosmetic having improved perfume retention and feeling of use, and comprising tasteless and odorless sclerogum which is a type of polysaccharide as a thickener. CONSTITUTION:Sclerogum (S) which is a polysaccharide obtained by cultivating a fungus belonging to the genus Sclerotium is homogemeously incorporated into a cosmetic, toilet soap or dentifrice. The sclerogum (S) is a tasteless or odorless substance harmless to the human body, and acts as a thickener due to the high viscosity resulting from water-solubility. The cosmetic thus obtained has a very high perfume retention, good storage stability and compatibity with the skin, e.g. adhesion to or spreading over the skin. The amount of S is about 0.01wt% in the case of a toothpaste. |
