PURPOSE:To enable an appropriate countermeasure to be taken easily, by displaying the order of countermeasure steps against disorder, when it happens, in captions or figures in succession. CONSTITUTION:An abnormal state, such as jamming, when it occurs, is detected and a copier is urgently stopped, and at the same time, jamming is indicated on display unit 36, and the position of jamming is indicated on display unit 30. Then, a countermeasure against the jam accident is successively displayed in captions or figures according to its order of steps on display unit 39. An operator successively takes the steps according to the indication of unit 39, but when the operation has not been finished just as unit 39 indicates, unit 39 does not perform the next display. Thus, operation is carried on until the copier returns to the normal state. Also in the case of deficiency of developer, toner, or the like besides the jamming, similar indication of an abnormal state and its countermeasure are displayed in succession, permitting appropriate steps to be taken easily. |
