PURPOSE:To reduce the output distortion by expanding the depletion layer over the base width to produce punch-through, by connecting the part between the collector and the emitter of the bipolar transistor in series with the power supply, load and input signal source. CONSTITUTION:When the voltage VBC between the base and collector is changed, the collector current (or emitter current) rapidly rises with the voltage VCB at the specified value. Since the base and emitter is back-biased, the width of the depletion layer in the base is spread, finally reaching the entire base width, resulting in causing punch-through current between the collector and the emitter. |
