PURPOSE:To lessen the loss of current, raise luminous efficiency, and lengthen the life of lamp by providing a plurality of second electrodes each of which is connected with a current-limiting element between the inner tube and outer tube of a double tube and applying AC voltage between the first electrode inside the inner tube and the second electrode for lighting. CONSTITUTION:In the double tube 3 consisting of the inner tube 1 and the outer tube 2, having a bent discharge path formed by connecting both the tubes through the aperture 1a of the inner tube 1, the aperture 1b on one side of the inner tube 1 is provided with the first electrode 4, a plurality of the second electrodes 5 are provided on the same side as the first electrode 4, each of the second electrodes 5 is connected with the current-limiting element Z, such as a stabilizer, and AC voltage V is applied between the first electrode 4 and the second electrodes 5 for lighting. Thus, the constitution of the external circuit can be simplified, the loss of power can be lessened, and therefore a discharge lamp of a high luminous efficiency and a long life can be obtained. |
