A facade cladding for a building or other constructions contains rectangular facade elements 1 and fastening devices 12 for these. At the very top and bottom of each facade element there is a rearward-jutting tongue 3, 4 having a bent-over free edge 5, 6 forming an acute-angled cross section, the free edges being essentially parallel with the flat principal plane 2 for the element. The fastening devices run horizontally along a wall 13 or another mounting for the facade cladding and have a part of upwardly open and U-shaped cross section 14, in which the bent-over edge of two vertically successive facade elements is inserted, which is to say that the uppermost bent-over edge of the lowermost element and the lowermost bent-over edge of the uppermost element are inserted in the U-shape 14 and the elements are thereby secured resting one on top of the other. Fastening means 15 can be used to secure the facade elements in place. The facade elements, which simultaneously form a totally smooth facade, are extremely simple to put up, which would not previously have been possible without the use of substantially more complicated measures. <IMAGE>
