PURPOSE:To extend the recording time for the magnetic tape of the same length, by recording magnetically the video signal onto a track with a band width narrower than the frequency band width of each channel and by synthesizing reproduced outputs by a synthesizer and by causing the synthesized output to pass through a ghost eliminating circuit. CONSTITUTION:The video signal is applied to input terminal IN as a time series signal and is divided to plural channels y1-y8 by channel divider 1. Their outputs are recorded onto magnetic tape 2 by plural magnetic heads H. For reproducing, information of magnetic tape 2 is read by plural magnetic heads H', and outputs y1'-y8' are applied to synthesizer 1' dependent upon Walsh-Hadamard conversion and so on, and a time series video signal is obtained as the output. Ghost generated as the result is eliminated by ghost eliminating circuit 3 provided in the output side of synthesizer 1', and thus, the running speed of the magnetic tape can be lower in comparison with the case where the band width of the recording and reproducing system is set to the value of the band width of each channel or more. |
