The fireplace consists of a hearth (1) with a low level water heater (7) and a fresh air inlet (6). The heater is in series with a back-boiler (2) so that an air space exists between it and the rear (12) of the fireplace. Water, from the central heating, is supplied through the return pipe (11) and, after re-heating, returns through the flow pipe (8). Fresh air, drawn through the intake (6), passes under the hearth and between the back boiler and rear (12) of the fireplace before entering the room through the outlets (10). A secondary air circuit is installed on each side of the fireplace. Room air enters the under-hearth inlet duct (5) and flows through the metallic duct (3) into a plenum (4) which runs around three sides of the mantlepiece. The warmed air exhausts through the outlet (9). An electric immersion heater is fitted in the water circuit for night time operation.
|
