<p>The variable conduit is used when a single stack serves several boilers and allows the gas exit velocity to be optimum depending on the number of boilers alight at any one time. The variable conduit has six shutters articulated at their base to a support frame fixed to the inside wall of the chimney. Three of the shutters are driven by connecting rods from the central shaft where a vertical drive rod extends to the ground, while the other three shutters follow the movements of the first set by lateral overlap and by hooks fixed to their top edges.</p> |
