<p>The lock system is intended for securing a roller bearing (22) between a rotating shaft (15) and a housing (10). It uses a resilient clip (30) which is inserted with a snap action in a slot (36) in the housing. The clip can be a plastics moulding, with a stem carrying a triangular lug which locates behind the outer race (16) of the bearing, and a resilient extension (44) which slopes downwards. The tip of this extension then locates in the slot and comes to rest against its rear wall. A tab projecting from the rear enables easy insertion. In an alternative design, the chip is made of spring steel strip, and its locking lug is formed by bending the tip upwards into a U shape. In both designs, the contact face of the lug slopes at a given angle to the face of the bearing race.</p> |
