The double walled welded sheet metal jacket is for a heat exchanger. The two sheets (6A,6B) forming the outer jacket are overlapped, drilled (2) at definite locations, and stamped (3) in the vicinity of the drill holes. The latter operation gives part spherical depressions (3) on the internal faces. The sheets are positioned in their respective positions above and below a pre-assembled inner jacket (1), and spacer pillars (7) are threaded into the aligned holes (2,5). The edges of the outer sheet holes (2) are welded (8) to the pillar (7) ends, and water under pressure is fed into the jacket to obtain the final deformed shape (6). The depressions (3) protect the welds, and the inner jacket (1) is obtained by a similar drilling (5), welding and pressure deformation process.
|
